A metallic sheen is normal in black pullets, might be early to tell, but appears more pullet to me. I have limited experience with the breed, but my pullets are the most standoffish and feisty chicks, running wild chest bumping and causing a raucous. The cockerels as chicks have been the friendliest, most inquisitive with people and very chill with their flock mates. You might get more experienced eyes on by posting these pictures in "what breed or gender is this" to help with gender id. Good luck with your Bruges, hopefully you can wait it out and see what happens.View attachment 3927082View attachment 3927084View attachment 3927088
Hey, it’s good to find somewhere to read about the Bruges Fighter. I have just this one from Greenfire. 9 weeks old. I was thinking pullet, but then the metallic sheen and fighting with a little older cockerel happened, so I thought cockerel. Bringing him/her in the house though, the overall look to me in the photos is pullet. I’m on the fence about keeping it or not. It’s a cool bird but not the sweetest. I’m afraid of what it could do to the others in a mixed flock.
Thanks. That’s very reassuring. She’s getting along with the 2 Swedish Flowers and a Sussex that she hatched with. Every time I reach in to the pen, she has pecked me a couple times, then she’s fine. In person, she’s very intimidating looking, like a raptor. I like her a lot. She seems so intelligent, but cold and terrifying at the same time. She’s the Anti-Light Sussex.A metallic sheen is normal in black pullets, might be early to tell, but appears more pullet to me. I'm thinking blue partridge now. Was really hoping this would be a pullet, but not really looking that way. 7 weeks old, have lemon yellow hackles coming in. Been raining, hope to get some photos this weekend in some natural light.Looks like silver partridge
