Bruising on duck egg day 28

Hmmmm pretty sure just the shell. Is there any special way to tell?? Haha this is my first time is im
Being honest
if the shell is broken, the membrane is too.
The bruising may be due to a broken blood vessel, this does happen sometimes.
Ducklings take a very long time to hatch. But you should soon see the duckling pipping a line around the egg (zipping).
Can you hear any chirping?

Thank you so much! I’m new to this so this all helps. I saw a very very tiny hole, not even a star shaped crack around 8pm last night when I woke up, so it’s been about 20 hours since first pip. I’m just concerned with the progress. And we can’t hear and chirping over the incubator and we weren’t sure if taking it out at this point would be ok or not.

20 hours isnt unusual, sometimes it can take 24-48 hours for them to complete hatch.
If you cant see any movement around the crack/against it, and cant hear any peeps, you could open the incubator for a moment to check on the baby. Just talk to him, or very gently tap the shell, being careful not to move the egg, and listen for a reply. Just to ensure baby is doing alright.
Just don't have the incubator open too long or the membrane will dry out.

If you want to encourage him, playing music, or chick chirping sounds near the incubator (not too loud), will help. You could also talk to him directly through the incubator, as strange as it sounds, this encourages them, and naturally they would do this with mama.

Thank you so much I’ll keep you posted! When do you think I should start seeing him zip judging by the time frame of the pip I gave u.

The main reason you don't want to take eggs out during lockdown is because you don't want them (or the incubator) to lose to much humidity. It's fine to open the incubator for a few seconds to check on the eggs, but if you need to have it open longer you can steam up your bathroom and check them in there.

Just be patient for now. I know how nerve racking it is to wait.

anytime now it could happen, there isn't really a way to predict how long exactly it'll take-- Baby is running on his own schedule I'm afraid!
But I would expect progress to happen within the next 24 hours.

Perfect thank you so much for your help. Could I come back if I need to ask anything else??? I’ll post a picture at the end of tonight with the progress, because tonight will be 24 hours from first pip
