Bruising or blue coloration in my roosters foot

I Rooster is limping and his foot is swollen in the pad underneath and down his middle digit. He does not appear to have an open wound at all. Should I try splinting?

It looks badly bruised, but there is no obvious misalignment. I would not splint it unless it really appears to be fractured. It may just be a bad sprain. Splints can be hard to keep on and any further swelling can be problematic, you have to watch carefully for that so circulation isn't cut off. You can do daily soaks in warm epsom salts, that will help with pain and swelling. The pain will help him self limit activity to let it recover. If needed you can crate him in the run so he can still see and be seen by everybody, to further limit his activity. Try to set him up something so he doesn't have to jump up and down from a roost and further agravate it, stacked hay bales, etc.
I will attach a splinting manual, which might help if it becomes necessary, it also explains how to examine for a fracture.
