No kidding! It seems like I end up with the bad boy roosters every time, darn it! Oh, I knew he had an attitude before I took him and still took him. I just think that those tennis shoes made him loose trust in me and I'm going to have to work to get it back. Initially, I said I was going to give him a few days but if after today's work he show's some progress, I'll give him some more time. He will have to show me that he's going to make some progress by the end of the week though.
I have a nasty little Bantam rooster who just started this behavior. My son and I both wear the same pair of shoes most of the time when feeding or letting out the flock, so maybe it is just certain shoes. Going to try a different pair tonight and see what happens.
i have a fishing net i use to catch my birds when they wont let me get them,, like "feather trimmin day" ,, it stands in the corner of the yard,, when i grab that,, ya should see ALL my birds "run fer cover" ,, and ALL of my roo's start their "RUN" call

There is no "past experience" with this bird! I had him TRY to express his dominance with me just ONE time and after carrying him around for a half hour, it never happened again. My wife was another story. She was chased by roosters when she was a child and is still leery of roosters. He wouldnt even let her in the back yard and there was no way I was going to teach her what to do to break him so THATS how Stacey got him. Maybe now it is a "woman" thing I dont know. He was never abused and with the tennis shoe thingy thats what I always wore and he didnt mess with me other than the one time. Revenge for me? Maybe. God only knows what goes through their minds.

I wonder that sometimes to Tim! This boy has been a hard nut to crack, that's for sure! I'm determined that he's going to behave though. I'm not giving up quite yet. I guess I really need to give him a month or so before I really know if he's going to stay or going to go. Hopefully by the end of today, progress will have been made and we can start moving forward again with this boy.

That's funny! I don't think I will need a net for this boy. When I open the door he flies right into me! Its going to just be a matter of me having good catching skills I believe.

I didn't know the bird's history, only that he was new on the scene and may have carried with him past experiences that could have been affecting his behavior now. Hopefully with time and patience, he will be more calm. It can be unsettling for them to adjust to a new home, until they find they can trust it. I hope it works out okay.
