BS Marans @16 wks.Is Madonna a rooster? VERDICT at post #21!!

Here are my two Blue Splash Marans that I hatched on April 30th. They're nearly 16 weeks old and haven't made a peep. Madonna's comb and wattles are a little more red than Windy's and I'm hoping that it's just because she's getting ready to lay an egg. Any indication to you that she's a roo? (please, please, please, please NO!).

I agree but I could easily be wrong but tail feathers look rooish to me.

I'm terrible about judging these things, particularly feather shape, etc. Any other feathers that you notice that tip you off? To me, they both look like they have the same feathering all over.

I would say they are both pullets. At this age, most males have very large combs and wattles. You should also see saddle feathers developing, and I don't see that in the pics, either.

Is it possible to get another shot of Madonna from the side showing the saddle area a little better? I am tempted to say roo but don't want to commit yet. Need to see the saddles. The second photo below the photo that you posted that states you don't know which one is which makes Madonna look roo-ish and also makes it appear IMO that there are some saddle feathers there. Now after saying all of that I would think that by this age you would have heard a crow and that the comb and wattles would be bigger.
