BSL roo??

Based on what hens and roosters the hatchery has, there were limited options to what his parents were. I usually refer to him as a BSL or black star to make him sound fancier lol. Hoped the pics helped (yours look very similar!) and good luck with your cockerels!!
This was SO much help. I can’t thank you enough and I’m so glad that I found your post. He is SO handsome. I showed my husband pictures of your guy to show him what ours will look like and he agreed that they are beautiful. We do have two BSL cockerels and we THINK at least 4 more cockerels (other breeds). With our hen/pullet ratio we really can only have about 3-4 so I’m hoping both are super sweet and we can keep both! I will only give away the ones that are aggressive.. otherwise I’ll even have an all roo flock separate from our girls if necessary. I can’t thank you enough again for all of your information!

That’s great, hope it all works out for your cockerels, glad my pics helped! If you think of it when they reach maturity, post pics so we can see how they turned out :) judging by the pics, they will be very handsome too!!

I think I may have a “Not BSL” too from the $1 bin as well. This youngster was born mid-March. Do you think it’s a roo? It wasn’t very cooperative when I tried to take its picture, but my son asked me yesterday if it was a roo, and it chased me kind of aggressively today. Oh, and I clipped wing feathers, so that makes it look a little off. I’ll try for better pics later, but for now we’re are going out for ice cream!

Maybe it’s just me, but the link to the pics doesn’t work. Can you repost them differently?

Wow, that does look a lot like mine! I’m no expert, but looks very much like a cockerel. Probably mixed breed, like mine is. Here are pics of what he grew up to look like, he’s super handsome. He’s now 2 years old.
