bucket nesting boxes

GotCochins? :

for my cochins i just use a 5 gallon bucket with lid sitting right side upwards.they have a hole cut in the side large enough for them to get in and out.use a brick in front as a step and it also helps it stay in place.works great for bantam size birds.

can you post a pic of your set up? It is nice to see choices for folks trying to put up nests.

Yeah i did see it........ i think Denali is right, i dont give them enough credit........look at what the poor feet go through in winter. I have sensitive feet..........so i think it looks that way to me for that reason. I think i think too much anyway LOL.

I feel chastened, your hens have a nice 2"x4" to keep their tootsies safe, all ours got was a strip of packing tape folded over the rough edge

I like the buckets. Much more cost effective than dog crates and cat carriers, but my bantam shoe box is the best "deal" in town!

Shoe Box for Serama Bantam

I am actually getting homemade wooden nest boxes built by jmhappycowboy any day now with perches that will fold up and removable bottoms for ease of cleanup. It will increase my floor space in the coop!
