I took a picture of my cockerel. He is weighing 7 lbs 11 oz and in about a week, he'll be 7 months old. He wouldn't be still for a picture and he freaks out at the camera. I hope he calms down a bit in the next couple of months. This bird is really thick. You can see that he has good skull width and thick shanks. I could not in anyway get him to pose for the picture but here he is:

And here is a different looking cockerel Roy and I rescued when he was about 4-5 weeks & Roy raised up; he had a rough start so he only weighs in at 6.5 lbs, and he is close to the age (if not a little older) of the other cockerel. You can see that he is not as thick and big as the first one but I plan to use him as there are things I really like about him (and am tracking down his origin but I think I know by his look & if I am right, he is a different line than mine):

Thanks, I need to get some better pictures to get them critiqued. In my opinion the males comb is too large and the hens need work with the color but i need to get some good pics so I can get some other peoples opinions.

Hi all - I've been absent from the boards for quite some time. Awhile back I became very interested in Buckeyes, but have yet to purchase any. I had already placed chick orders prior to my interest flowering this spring, so decided I needed to get through spring and summer. I offloaded pullets this summer and I have a small (15 hens) very mixed flock right now, but want to start acquiring Buckeyes. My egg customers want more than I can provide, so I'd like to increase my flock sooner than spring. I live near Sandhill so will purchase from them in the spring to add in different blood and good genetics. However, my folks live near Dayton, OH and I'm coming out to see them and go to the OH National show as a spectator (my first!). Does anyone along the I74/I70 corridor between IA and OH or anyone going to the OH National have any Buckeyes for sale? I'm always hesitant to purchase adults, but would consider pullets/adults from reputable folks. I'm also interested in chicks.

Thanks!!
Skye

Here is a leg pic of a boy that already weighed 7lb 4oz last week at 19 weeks, you can see how nice and thick they are compared to my hand-

That's him on the left- the boy on the right, same age was 6lb 3oz (sorry not the greatest pic, they're in a group right now and it's difficult getting a separate shot )
