It's great that you're out there showing your birds, putting the breed before the judges and other exhibitors! I wish I could be in a position to show, but at this time we're still up in the air with a lot of issues, and can't do it. I miss the shows, but am glad there are lots of you showing your Buckeyes, and doing so well! (Congrats go out to Janet and others for their recent wins too!)

Keep up the good work everyone.

Whatever, it's going to be one beautiful fowl once it's grown!

Another subject. I'm a grandma!

Nesco was born . . er. . hatched sometime early this morning. Not sure if Nesco is a pullet or a cockerel, bit it looks just like Daddy - minus the comb, feathers, and attitude of course.

Named Nesco because after I took the eggs away from Mom - she tossed the first two hatchlings out of the nest - I put the remaining eggs into my Nesco Roaster where they have been - warm and cozy - for the past 4 days.

I sadly fear the other 3 siblings who should have hatched last Thursday or Friday are toast (or became toast while I was trying to adjust the 'biosphere' of the Nesco?)

It's the first time I've home hatched a chick! Nesco will be joined by 5 other varieties of day-old chicks including 4 BUCKEYE chicks on Wednesday, so he won't be raised all alone. The grandchildren and I are tickled as heck.
