Bator fever is gonna strike soon, I can FEEL it. I'm already looking for hatching eggs. I might need to get some more buckeye eggs, too.

I talked to Ben at Meyer Hatchery. He said to say hi to you Jeff. He said he would check with his flock manager and get back to me about his flock of Buckeye's

What school???

Since you asked, it's about 10 below zero, 25 mph winds, and 8" of snow on top of the 2' of snow we already have!!!! But, we're fine. How is it down there?

It is a tail freezing blizzard again here in Okoboji. No travel advised and -25w/c.. When will it end!

Just think, we still have 3 months of this to go! March has almost always been snow storm season (State Basketball Tournament weekend). Can't wait to see where we are going to put all the snow!!!

This is why I brood in April. Come on Spring!!! I want some Buckeye's!!!!!

Hi Victory,

Lots of folks here hatch and ship chicks, myself included. You can see my website here: http://www.pathfindersfarm.com

As well, Dave Puthoff ships chicks (he's the webmaster for the American Buckeye Poultry Club, I'm the Secretary/Treasurer), you can see his website here: http://www.buckeyechickens.com

I'm sure more folks will chime in here as well.

Cheers,

WOW! Thanks so much I will be getting back with you in a few weeks to place my order! My husband is going to be very excited thanks!

How far is too far to ship eggs? I would hate to order eggs and them not be handled well threw the mail? I have no experience with this so not sure how well that works!!

I'm just curious about the shipping of adult birds... I can understand the chicks doing well, as they are still absorbing the egg yolk, how do the big 'uns fare?

Big 'uns have to be shipped express mail and you ship them with fruit for water and food and try to arrange dropoff immediately before the truck leaves. The containers themselves are very expensive.

I echo what Jenscott says & would add that you need to train them to eat the fruit readily before shipping (i.e. get them used to it; don't let the ship date be their introduction to the fruit). A pullet/hen without water for more than 24 hours is not a good thing & it could ruin her laying forevermore.

Wow, I had no idea, thank you for the info. I was only asking as I wondered how they would make it like that... I will be driving or getting eggs or day-olds. Thank you jenjscott and cgmccary!
