I don't have any pics of adolescent birds, will try to take some this spring. But here's a pic that Don Schrider took at Congress last weekend and graciously sent me today, of my BB cockerel. The color is a little weird, as his legs are much yellower than that in person, and his tail is showing weird highlights that it doesn't have, plus he's not quite that shiny. But it's a great pic of him, and thanks to Don for taking it, as I completely forgot a camera!:

Hey cgmccary,

I'm just a couple of hours north of you. I'm going to be looking to buy 3 three top quality young buckeye cockerels to go with the 25 poulets I have on order. I'm going to need them around June 1st. Do you think you might have any?

Thanks!

Hey folks,

Riddle me this...I couple of days ago, I ordered 25 buckeye chicks from someone here locally who's hatching eggs from...in his own words...an older guy from the northeast who has no internet, no cell phone, no email, but raises beautiful birds. I've seen other birds that he's bought from this guy's stock, so I can vouch for the quality.

Do any of you know who he might be referring to?? Who is this buckeye guy from the northeast?

Could you all share your experience with Buckeyes going broody? Is it very rare...similar to a RIR? Is it very reliably broody...similar to an Orpington? Somewhere in between? Thanks!

matte i asked that a while ago and this is what pathfinders said

Do they set often?: Somewhat often. Often enough so that if you wanted to have the hens hatch chicks, you can, but not so much that you never get eggs.
