You will be pleasd with them. Glad to have another Arkie with Buckeyes! I am in Monticello. Jen drives within two miles of my small farm almost daily. Sold her quite a few tomatoes and melons this summer. Guess I owe her some freebies! Was over there today delivering some coops. She was so sweet to give us enough for the coops to purchase an incubator for our youth poultry club.

Chris, your male bird looked good, healthy and very happy with his girls!

This is one reason why Poultry Press uses a photo box. You always have someone get in a photo. I called a friend once and told him his photo was in the local paper. He was shocked. Never even saw the camera. Wonder if this fellow knows he is posted on BYC?

Yes, I know that's why PP uses a photo box. But trying to get them to send me the pic is like pulling teeth!

And I do place an ad, so it's not like I don't pay for the pics...

Was at the Shawnee, OK show in the early 1990's. PP was there with a large box of Shawnee, OK show pics from YEARS back. Was a lot of fun looking at them. If it was you, the photo was free!

Full day today. Got up at about 5:30, checked emails and yahoo groups. Woke the children. Fixed their snack. Checked emails...saw a link to BYC. Took kids to school bus...logged in to BYC...oops wrong password....still wrong password...get new profile....find this thread...start reading thread....load Jen's coops, deliver coops.....unload coops....get full tour of Jen's birds!

Return home....care for chickens...read thread... eat dinner....read some more....watch movie with wife (on computer....?....?... movie over!)....FINALLY found page 66! Now brain is hurting from so much Buckeye information!

Thanks everyone for being so helpful to all of us new to Buckeyes! No why did I raise Buff Orpingtons all those years?

I don't know for sure, but would imagine it would only take about 5 generations to make bantams from a RIR bantam and a Dark Cornish. Not the same as our "heritage" birds, but hey, they were manufactured too, just 100+ years ago, is all! And at this point, no need to re-make the bantams, there are actually enough folks out there with them if you hunt. Jason Page of MA has some nice ones (got some from him in Nov.), Russell Crevoiserat of NH has some nice ones (got a pair this month from him), I got some from Matt John last fall (the last of his) and some from Duane Urch in Nov. I am told Duane is currently sold out, but I got an order in for chicks early, so should be getting 15 from him soon (as well as ten of his LF.) And if the weather ever gets better and mine start laying, I'll have chicks later this year. But need to keep the first hatches to build up my stock. Have the birds in breeding pens now, but only one hen is laying.
