Congratulations! Good for you for putting your birds up there for people to see. And I agree, isn't Chris just the best?!

Congratulations, James!!

Shows are fun and I am hoping that I'll be able to show some of the chicks that I am getting from BuckeyeDave. I have not seen any Buckeyes at any of the shows I have been to, in Arizona. I will be going to a show next weekend, but am not showing. I just want to look around.

Anyway, I am glad you enjoyed your first show.

Sounds great.Something I want everyone to know also is showing is fairly inexpensive unless you have to travel and get a room.I spent about 20 bucks and 10.00 of that was eating. It cost 10.00 to enter 4 birds and that was the only expense in the weekend.

Congratulations James!!!! I'm excited for you and your win.....I've had a lot of friends and neighbors ask was I going....Almost brought me to tears as we're catching up farm work after all the rains.....There's hope for next year!

Be sure and post photos of that purty bird!

Have a joyous and blessed day!

James .... How lucky I am to have sisters and brithers of those birds on lockdown !! 1 day to go til hatch and lets don't forgert those light sussex are on lock down as well !!!

My Buckeye chicks are 10 days old now and I have never had chicks like these!!!!!!! They are so full of life but not flghtey. They are growing fast and have a wonderful personality. Why waist your time on any orther breed.

I agree! Over the years we've had these breeds of large fowl (if I can remember them all): Silver Laced Wyandottes, Brown Leghorns, White Leghorns, Cochins, Ameraucanas, Easter Eggers, Marans, Dominiques, Orpingtons, Australorps, Rhode Island Whites, Golden Comets (I do love those!), and more, and Buckeyes are by far our favorite breed. They're the only large fowl (other than the Leghorns for the girls' 4-H project) that I'll keep any more.

Congrats on your wins, James! Sounds like you had a lot of fun too.....pics please.

I picked up the premier issue of Hobby Farms 'CHICKENS' and Sue Weaver gave a nice honorable mention of the Buckeye as a heritage breed in her article. Another boost for the breed!
