Buckeye Breed Thread

I have some very sad news (at least for me.) As things turn out, I will not be able to attend the OH National this year. My father in-law, who is in his mid-80s, is in very ill-health. He lives in Canada (my husband is Canadian.) My husband was told by his mom that he really needed to come up to visit soon. And between his work and available flights, the only time he can go is over the weekend of the show.

((sigh))

So unfortunately, I have to stay home, as our older daughter is off in college and our younger will be away at a weekend leadership seminar. And with the horses and dogs and goats and cats, I just can't leave the farm alone for a whole weekend.

So I'm missing the show, about which I am so upset! But I know you all who are going will have a wonderful time. I am hoping that Bob will be able to run the club meeting for me, and I'm still working to get the time for the meeting and the table and all that put together.

Please someone, take some good pictures, and is there someone who can fill out a show report for me (winners, numbers of birds shown and so on)? I'd be very grateful.

Thanks,

I'm very sorry Luara

Laura: I am very sorry to hear about your father-in-law and I hope things get better for you. I know it has been quite an adjustment with C. away at college. I know exactly how you feel about not being able to leave the place. I've got to be gone for a conference and can't stand that I I can't make the first Buckeye National Meet. I am wondering how J. is going to juggle his job and taking care of the birds while I am away at the conference.

We must promise each other & ourselves that we will go next year!

Punky: I don't think I've said it before but your Rhodes' cockerel looks like he has perfect shape. What does he weigh? And what is his age in the pic & at weight taken? I am guesing by the pics that he weighs nearly 7 lbs and is about 6 months old. I like him. Thanks for all your pictures.

Thanks dear, I do too. It's hard having parents in their 80s, take my word for it. All this year it's been one thing or another with the parents (first mine, then his.)

Thanks, aren't those birds of Donnas amazing?

And Chris, I know! Next year we have to have a pact to be there! Maybe we can get Jen to run the meeting for us with Sarah this year!

Laura,
That's a shame. I heard that Buckeyes are the biggest large fowl class. Too bad you'll ahve to miss it.
