Yep yep, USPS at it's finest!!!
Ohio to Washington/Oregon/California is the most expensive shipping I have encountered in the continental US, it's $12.14 for priority mail, in Ohio it's usually $5.16 with confirmation if I do the postage through paypal.
I haven't added apple slices as of yet, I try to follow the same standards as the big chick shippers, they seem to have it down to a science.
Unless it's above 90 or under 40 I have had great luck shipping. If it's warm ship 25 chicks in a 50 chick box instead of a 25 chick box, they can huddle if they are cold and spread out if they are warm.
If it's cold put 2 excelsior pads in and block 90% of the air holes. Be very wary of heat packs, if you need to use one put it under the excelsior pad and only tape 2 sides of holes up.
I have found
Cutler's Supply has the best price for shipping boxes, quick service and they take paypal!!
Sorry to hear about your neighbor situation, that really sucks, jackwagons really irritate me, they really really do. Let me know when you get to your new place and are ready for some buckeyes, I'll replenish your flock.
Thanks for the offer Dave, but we would prefer "real" Buckeyes!
P.S.
Seriously, I do have your number! plus we will be keeping an adult pair and some juveniles.
