Yes they are grey, very small any every where. stuck my hand in nest box and came out with many on my hands....vacuumed coop and bleached, hoping to knock them back until I can get to store.....need to go to work shortly. Why does work have to get on the way of my life????I don't go near any farm stores.....how 'bout a cat or flea powder (w/ premithrin or pyrethrin) to give some relief to the birds?

There is no waiting period for eating eggs/meat/milk.

There WAS a waiting period when using Ivermectin.
You can google 'eprinex' in the search box (above) here on BYC & read alot of posts about it, including dosage.
Besides that, you can buy poultry dust at feed stores & dust each bird's bottom, but that does not get the crawlies internally.

You may have Eprinex at your feeds stores, call & ask.

In addition to using the poultry dust on the bird's (and rub it in really good so it gets to their skin, you should provide them a dust bath.
Then it is recommended you spray walls & roosts with an insecticide (lock birds out until it is dry) like Sevin, but I use a Permethrin product, Sevin is too harsh an insecticide for me...
Litter, roosts & nest boxes can all harbor the crawlies, and should be sprayed/cleaned/replaced nest material.
I use cedar shavings on the coop floors, and compressed stray in nest boxes.
Some say whole straw can house crawlies in the straws...compressed straw is smashed flat & softer.
Maybe look through BYC for more hints, google in the search box.

[Stuck in the Coop]

I use the dust also. Found an old spice bottle and filled with the powder. I sprinkle it everywhere...roost, nest, floor, even the drop pan. I also try and remember to dust their favorite dust bath spot under the trees. I use it as a preventive, no buggies so far

My dust came from feed store and lists garden dust as one use, along with poultry.

Good luck getting rid of them.

The powder I showed in the photo is for vegies or poultry, and the active ingredient is permethrin, an extract from Chrysanthemums.
I use it, with 1/2 bag of sand and a few big scoops of Diatemaceous Earth (DE) in each coop's dust bath
Dust bath in big tub, we get from Home Dept, for mixing mortar:

Ask at your feed store for DE..diatemaceous Earth, it will help.
But the main thing is the powder.
There is also a product concentrate I buy, dilute & spray coops, walls & roosts which is permethrin II, I will send a link.
This product can be diluted to dip dogs & chickens for mites & fleas.

This is a little bitty bottle, and instructions are on it for dilution, if not, PM me for questions.
It is said to spray everything in the coop when there is bugs, and use Sevin insecticide.
I hate insecticide (Sevin and Malation!!!)and choose this (Permethrin) much more mild natural choice, and it works great!
This product is even recommended for use around bee hives for bee/wax beetles and other honey/wax predators although do not directly spray the bees.
Bee wax beetles bore into the soil at the foot of hives, and the larvae travel up to and get into the hive body and then do their nastiness.
It is recommended to spary all the soil around the foot of all hive bodies to rid this pest.
I use it all over roosts, nest boxes & coop walls, it dries in minutes.
With severely infested birds, you can directly spray their skin between the legs with this product.
Or you can dip the entire bird (I do not do this)

This is the only pest control we use in our entire homestead, green house, dog, and chickens.
I think it is deathly to cats, so read the label.

I use it in spray bottles for flies & crawlies in the green house.

ok...I went to TSC. they had no poultry dust!!! I went to the local hardware store and picked up the .12% permithrin powder(for dusting vegetables). It is an off label use. I try to go organic(at least less toxic) whenever possible but I can not watch my poor birds get lethargic, lose weight and go "down hill" when I can do something about it. I cleaned coop and mixed new bedding with permithrin powder. All birds in that flock treated with powder. I hated to do it. It seems counter productive to poison. But I did it. Moving on --next question. My 4 month olds did not appear to have lice. I did not treat them. After handling them we had no crawlies on us (even with my GOOD glasses on!). They are due to be processed in about 4 weeks.Any thoughts on this?

Anything smaller is a rip off if ya ask me.
I have seen 2# bags for $30 !!!!!!!!
I have a new clean rubbermaid garbage can I keep the DE in, stays dry.
I sprinkle it, a big scoop with 1/2 bag of all purpose sand, and dump & mix in the mortar tub, and each coop has one.
Clean stuff out of it with a cat litter "spoon" and each bird will dust themselves.
That is how we do it here.
