If your teacher sexed the birds by looking at these pictures, he/she made the same mistake I did. While nice picture they are not precise. From the word description both are males.

Can I ask what makes one look female?
Is it the reflective light around the nostril?
I am glad my birds are young and more susceptible to being worked with (because they weren't hand-reared or handled), but I can't wait for them to mature.

The cere on a just weaned female will be a light blue edged in white that turns tan/brown as the bird matures. The cere on a just weaned male will be light blue edged in pink. In some colors the male's cere starts pink and stays pink; lutino/albino. So in the pictures the true cere color doesn't show as it should going by your word description.

In time you may consider getting some hens and raising budgies. It's very enjoyable and not at all hard.

Maybe! I imagine it would be a fun and rewarding experience. But it would be much later, and after a lot of research. For now, these two are wonderful. I am right now watch them groom each other, and it is precisely to watch. Plus, I can happily and officially say that mu green one (Scout) has eaten a treat from my hand! As in, I held it, and he ate it. This is a first for him, and it feels monumentally. The blue one (Piper) watched and then came in for a nibble but was more cautious. This feels like a big step towards gaining their trust.
