Budgies!!

How expensive are most cages?
I paid $100 for mine, but I knew I wanted a flight cage because I like my babies to be able to fly around. They really don't use the bottom 1/3 of the cage much though. I would say that width is more important then having a cage that is super high. They love to hop from level to level, but don't like to be low. You can find every cage at Petco, etc for $20 less on Amazon, and 10 times the selection. You can also look on Craigslist, sometimes they have good used cages too, though I still find Amazon to be the cheapest.

How many birds are you planning on getting? That makes a big difference in the cage you will need.

Awesome! I found one I LOVED on ebay. I'm trying to see if it's worth using my only hundred...

Since it's gonna be in your house and it's gonna be there for a while, get one that you love. Feeling proud of their "house" and sure that they are happy in it is priceless (almost ;).
Awesome. :) If it's still there by nest month, I will buy it.. or two..

My parakeets don't like the bottom, either. It's just their poop container LOL. But they love to fly around!

What do you use as a cage liner? I get packing/moving paper from Home Depot and cut it to size. It come in a roll of about 100 sheets, so it lasts for a while. The liners the pet stores seek seem so expensive....

By the way, I had no idea there was a budgie forum on this site when I joined...who knew it would be so much fun! No one I know has birds, so it's actually really nice to be able to finally talk about them! Thanks for the fun thread!
