Buff Barred Cochin Thread

Oh gosh, Mike! He is so beautiful!

That first photo of him is awesome!

Let's see, I think Sweet Wheat (so named because Aarron got him from Steve Wheat but also because I think of the head of a wheat stalk with their pattern.) is like 16 months. Buck Wheat is a little fella, probably only 3 months old.

I think I have 10 more on the way. Not sure as Aarron likes to surprise me! LOL He said he had 15, mostly pullets, only 3 roos in those. He is sending me his favorite boy. I would have thought that was Sweet Wheat but I guess I shall see!

I am just super tickled to have more to cross with Dynamite and Dana! The black barred birds were going to set me back a ways and my really nice buff hen, Melon, lays very little. My other buff hen did not produce very nice offspring so I took her out of the program. I am really pleased with getting all these new ones! However, I need to sell a bunch more birds to make room! LOL

Amy,

Not ignoring you. What nice kids you got from Aarron. I'm trying to get back into the swing of things & will try & keep up with the posts. Love your birds & "love" you~!

Mike he is a beauty~!

Thanks Lynne- He isn't exactly like PB but I sure like him. I can't wait for my little chick from PB to finish maturing. He is going to be very interesting to watch as he has lots of black barring. Probly won't be the best for this project but I think he will be stunning.

Your new babies are adorable. Good luck with your trio. Thanks so much for posting~!

Thanks. It's exciting that the eggs are starting to hatch. They've been laying for a little while but just this past month or a bit longer the eggs have been fertile and developing well. Their first few batches of eggs weren't a go, but I imagine that is normal for pullets.
