The boys will be finding new homes and the girls will be staying. Thinking of replacing my buff with a blue. The leakage was CRAZY with these babies!

I love the grey/buff pullet!

Yeah, leakage like crazy. In theory those should be solid black or blue but that buff can and usually does strange things with black. I can never be sure what will happen. I had one boy that was pure solid black except most of his wings were a bright yellow. He was striking. I've had a couple of hens where a lot of their breast feathers were a black but looked dull black because they were sprinkled with a buff-yellow. I saw a photo on here where the chicken feathered out with black and bright orange splashes. I've seen others colored like yours too.

That is one of my favorite crosses. You can get so many different things and, as you can see, they can be really beautiful. Thanks for posting.

I was hoping that she was a splash when hatched because she had looked like it, but last week she started getting the buff and I about lost it 😂🤣
She is still the cutest little thing with her fluffy pants ❤️ I put her in my jacket while I clean the coop and she snuggles in and stops chirping. Super cute little girl.

I’m thinking of getting a blue cochin rooster, then I can breed him to my black, partridge, buff, and blue. I still love Cochins even though they are not recognized colors due to the lines I crossed, but they are still pure cochin, which I’m ok with.

I thought one was laced at first, but then he fully feathered into mostly buff. The girls definitely got my blue hens genes with the foot feathering and legs, I think the boys will be more like the buff and grow them a little later.

I really thought I was going to have orange headed chickens, but they all went black/blue and now the rest are buff at the chest and wings! Just amazing!
I wish others were closer, I would offer Fertilized eggs, just so I could see all the colors!
Pudge is my favorite.. she is a survivor! The hole to her skull is starting to close, so I’m very happy. She loves to be warm, so I stick her in my jacket between my sweatshirt and overalls, she just gets all cozy and does her little tweets.
It’s the same thing I did with her “real” mother, BlueJeans. Very friendly..

She is adorable. What happened to her head? I hatched chicks this year that were broody raised and one ended up in the run at a few days old, mom was staying in the coop with them, and got her head and eye pecked so she had a bald spot on her head. By the time they were a few weeks old I couldn't tell which one it was any more. Amazing how resilient they are.

I did this back in the Spring of this year. Buff roo over black and blue pullets. The resulting pullets were black and blue with gold hackle feathers. Very beautiful patterns. The resulting cockerels looked like they were on the losing end of a paintball war. I sold all of them at about 4 months old, so no pics of how they matured.
