the weather can throw them off schedule. Lots of patience as you wait it out. Our Lav girl started and stopped when we went cold, and looks to be nesting again today and I could feel an egg this morning when I picked her up so

she returns to laying again. Some birds are more temperamental than others to weather changes, housing changes ect

congrats on the great fertility and hatches so far.

Thanks on the new biggies, hubby is very happy with his expanding flock lol

I have 3 dogs with one being a Gr Pyr. LGD. I carry treats in my pocket and anyone who brings me an egg gets a treat and praised. I may not know where the egg came from, so I just hatch those to grow out and don't sell the hatching egg or new hatchling. I may be encouraging bad behavior but at least they aren't eating them. And my dogs are really good about not going into the breeding buildings where most of the eggs are lain. Gotta love a good dog!

BTW- Only 2 of the 3 dogs will bring the eggs. The other believes in "finders, keepers" ! Love her anyway!

Weather may be it. We just finished another snowstorm- hopefully the last of the season, probably wishful thinking- lol. I am just amazed that they started so early in Northern Iowa. This is my earliest season ever. Enjoy your new additions & your babies are doing great- terrible big babies though !

LoL so glad the early babies are doing well. Cant wait to see yours as they hatch this spring and

this is the last of your snow.

We have a new pyr pup (he is 10 months old now) who will play catch with eggs and drop them on command. He refuses to eat them unless I crack them. Love him for that.

I adore my LGD! My birds would not be safe and able to play and roam as they do without her. I do the same with the eggs. She only eats what I crack open for her. We are going to have pups this spring (she is 3) and plan to keep one. Hopefully, she will help train! I need to take pictures today and will post some of your babies. Their feathers are coming in so they are in between fuzzy. So cute- Enjoy your spring!

Paula, at least ONE of them is a gander! lol Tell Jerry we said hi. Hubby is off to the base and to the VA for his official letter so we can turn it in for his license plate, parking permit and taxes. After that all we have left to tackle is his SS paperwork.


Marty so sorry baby wont have a full recovery.Maybe a foam knee pad (like foam for chairs) wrapped in neoprene to help it hold up to use will aid the knee and wing tips.

Hansel and Gretel above the 2 year old buff pair. she is a laying champ and has built a wonderful nest in her stall.



Jiminy & Cricket below......3 year old grey pair who just arrived yesterday and she laid an egg yesterday afternoon lol They come from lines that produced the 2012 Ohio Nationals Champion so we are very excited to have them as part of our breeding program. Jiminy at his top weight per the breeder we got him from was 35lbs before being slimmed down for breeding season

Gandalf below, 2 year old gander, he is paired with one of the only yearlings we ended up keeping, and she is filling in nicely

With the way the weather has been here in MO I do not think my girls know if they should lay and eggs or not. Then when they do it is so cold. I can only hatch so many. I have two girls who went broody on me. Sarina I was fine with But I did not want Ginger to go broody yet. But too late she will not leave the nest. I go in and she talks to me. I ask her have you gone broody on me. She talks back like keep away from my eggs woman !!!!!!

I hope I can keep the other girls off a bit longer. The weather may change to a bit better and warmer. I sure hope so getting tired of tromping through snow with my bad back and knees!!!!!!

Hubby gets all the paperwork done without much hassle....... Love the new greys! I was looking...... considering trying to find a split buff gander for here. I think we could use the introduction of some nice grey size and some color as Napoleon is really light in color. ....

Country, we wont ever be without our pyrenees they are to invaluable to the farm for sure.


GQ .. thank you,hubby is very happy to have them here. He studies them while sitting on the porch a copy of the SOP laying next to him. He is very committed to them as a breed and not just breeding anything together so he is helping not hurting the breed.

Paula............ I forgot how slow the military can truly be at times with getting papers done. Our buffs are pale right now from the sun, but that will change with their next molt, but the grey does help them and helps with size too.
