Her eye is foaming this afternoon, for the first time in a few days I'm afraid. She is NOT eating. She is NOT using her legs to my knowledge. She still drinks, but only when she's breathing ok. She does drag herself around via body and wing movements.

I will ask him to check her again. I will ask about shots. I will ask about pain meds. I hope things work out. I have NOT FOUND a single scab anywhere other than neck and beak. I think she was grabbed through the fence. They came back the next day, and the two dogs stayed after it until they got under the fence. Today, they'd have to work even harder, as DH has piled rocks and bricks all over fence bottem to hold down, and also put odd shaped branches from trees along fence, so they can't really get withen 16 inches of the bottem of the fence now. Oh, and he's really had a great time with trimming wild roses by the river, and putthem their extra long braches along fence bottems too. He's still angry the dogs found a weakness.

I can imagine, I would be on the war path over an attack like that. Hot wire goes a long way to add added protection/buffer to a fence line.

Again I hope your Vet gives you good news and a new game plan for treatment.

She looks to be in rough shape, especially given how long ago she was attacked.

I know, poor girl. She seems comforted to be sitting next to my feet in front of the heater just now. She's playing in her water bowl, and washing her eyes in it. I guess it must feel nice. I just checked her over again, and their are no injuries anywhere below the neck that I can feel, or that she responds too. Lucky is clearly working on standing, she'll get up with her legs spread out, and put her wings out on the ground, and sort of pause for a few moments now. I expect to see her standing withen the next few days. She's eating more, and playing in the water with her head. Baby is only interested in water. I'm getting ready to whip up some more sugar/pinch of salt water for her.

I pray she comes through for you Marty. Im afraid she looks very ill and in honesty the prognosis does not look good. I suspect severe trauma to the upper respiratory tract and sinuses. I wud ask the Vet for injectable steroids and Baytril as an antibiotic. Given her weak condition time is of the essence.

Sorry to be so honest and really want the best outcome for you but best to be honest. Wishing you best of luck.

Two years ago my cat Charlie was attacked by some type of animal, though we weren't sure what. He had puncture wounds around his genitals and scratches on his thighs. We rushed him in to the vet after hours, paid $500 in vet charges, antibiotics and an overnight stay. We noticed he wasn't getting any better, and by the fourth day we were really concerned because he was really smelly. The vet hadn't perscribed him the right dose of antibiotics for his wounds, and he contracted staph infection. His skin was being eaten away and it started falling off. We rushed him to our regular vet, but there was nothing they could do at that point. If he had been on the right dose of antibiotics, it would never have gotten that bad.

So maybe what he has prescribed to Baby is too low of a dose, and that is why her infection doesn't seem to be abating. I would ask him about this. Is there something more he can do?

Still miss him.. Charlie was not really a cat, but was more like a dog. A good dog.

I agree. I've completed a pre-med program before caring for an ill husband. I never did go get my degree in medicene, but I've often wished I had, or vet. meds at this point. I know that every day she waits, is some of her chance slipping away.

I will write down your info, as well as Iains vets phone number she was kind enough to get permission for my vet to call, if he wishes. Thank you very much everyone who is sharing their knowledge. I don't want this sweet, even tempered, promising young buff girl to die. I hatched her, I've cared for her, tested her, fed her, shelter here, and even now keep her close so she doesn't give up. My heart is very much with her, I will be sure my vet understands that saving money is not my object, less he misunderstand how far I'll go to save Baby Girl.

Marty, You have a good game plan and telling your Vet in no uncertain terms you arent looking to save money is a good idea. Often they start slow and reserved not understanding your commitment and lengths willing to go for an animal.
