Hello, what do you breeders think is the best way to breed buff laced wyandotte bantams? Here in Belgium it is a colour that is unfortunately getting rarer. Take into account that I only have space for one small flock, let's say 1 × 4 or so.
1. A mixed flock gold laced x buff laced
Result would be 50% buff laced and 50% gold laced, which are two popular colours around here.
Questions? Is the buff ground colour going to be much darker because of the gold laced? And does it make any difference whether the cock is gold laced or buff laced and whether the hen is gold laced or buff laced? Theoretically, it shouldn't be different, but what does it say in practice?
2. A buff laced flock
Result would be 50% buff laced, 25% gold laced and 25% white/whitish.
The dominant white gene makes the gold fade away a bit too (turns it into buff).
Question? Doesn't the ground colour of the buff laced become too light eventually, so that bringing in a gold laced bird would become necessary after all?
