I purchased this chick as a Buff Orpington pullet, but I'm not sure based on the coloration. She had buff coloration to begin with, and has pink tinted legs. Now her feathers are coming in brown/black patterned with white borders. What do you think? Buff orp or something else? If she isn't a buff orp, what is she?
Definitely not buff orp, but I'm not sure what she is? Did you get her at the feed store or from a hatchery or a person? Feed stores often get mixed up chicks in the wrong bin, so maybe got placed wrong.
Definitely not a buff Orp, looks like she could be a red of some kind.
RIR comes to mind, but I think Buckeyes, production reds and NH reds all look sorta similar at that point. You will know more as she feathers out, because she'll probably look a lot different as she grows up!
RIR...that's what I would have guessed based on research! I got "her" (here's hoping that someone got that right!) at the local Co-op. I wasn't too confident with the knowledge of the people there to begin with. I was going for heritage breeds, but ended up with comets, too. Might as well have a RIR or red-sex link!
Snowhorse...those could be my chick! Thanks for your help!
