Hi, I am new to chickens. We have a flock of 3, all different breed, so I can't really compare "Goldie" to any of the others... and I don't think I've developed a good eye for hen vs roo. Does this four month old buff orpington look like a hen or rooster? I heard a sort-of-crow come from the flock, but not sure if it was a real crow, and I'm not confident who it came from. We only have three chickens, and I've read that sometimes hens will crow if there's no rooster, is that true? Really hoping "Goldie" isn't a rooster, b/c we love her and aren't allowed to own roosters where we live.

Sorry that he seems to be a cockerel. I am not allowed to have roosters and I am waiting to see what my 12 week old BO turns out to be. But mine is the same size as all my other chickens. Your (the OP's) BO looks so much bigger than the other 2 chickens. Is that because he is a rooster or because of the differences in the breeds?
