First time chick mom here. We got 4 “pullets” from the local TSC. Our two barred rock were clearly roo’s at 5 weeks. Now my 2 buffs are starting to look like roo’s and both were clearly trying to crow yesterday AM. I’m hoping it’s just a phase but I’m sure I’m wrong.

check the wings.... not a lot of people 'believe' that you can sex an Orp by their feathers, but I was able to -no problem-
I just used the tons of available images online to tell a roo wing feather from a pullet.
I had 12 Orp, at 6 weeks I figured that I had 8 roos... turned out to be right. frustratingly. lol

Its kinda obvious that they're cockerels already.

I’m going to give it a little more time just in case but they certainly did sound like young roo’s at 6:30 the last few mornings. My barred rocks developed combs so fast that I thought I was safe with the buffs. And they’re both the sweetest. 💔 We had already got four more chicks to replace the rocks. Hopefully we will have better luck with the two cinnamon queen and two sapphire gems.
