Buff Orpington and Barred Rock cross...is it a sex link?

Pretty birds. Any idea what a buff/RIR cross looks like?

Basically mine are just more of an orangish color than a red.

EDIT: This is with the RIR as the father.

Cool looking birds. I have barred rocks and just acquired a young buff. I am going to give this a go. I have been looking for a different dual purpose sex link bird. I am thinking this could be ideal.

Does the black sexlink chick from a buff orphington rooster and barred rock hen have a name? (Like the cinnamon queen and the like)

Yep, no sexlink. The barring gene must come from the hen. Roosters can pass their barring genes to both their male and female chicks. Hens can only pass theirs to their male chicks. It's why pure Barred Rock hens only have one barring gene, and the males have two barring genes, making them look so much lighter.

so all offspring would be barred? my husband loves the look

They should all have the barring gene. How much barring they get will be dependent on what other patterning genes the hen might be carrying. And the boys will have a lot of gold/red feathering in addition to the black and white barring.
