That scab will have to be removed its not pink and smooth.Soaking it all you have to do in the initial stages.Its after the core is removed you need bandages and boots to keep it clean and dry so it heals

1 cup of epsom salt in the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket with enough warm water to cover their feet.I When I ran out of Epsom salt I used regular table salt.I didn't make a poultice!
