Buff Orpington Hen or Roo?

Aspen is a pullet that is just further from Orpington standard than the others IMO, after doing some reading on them. I think with the females the single comb should be straight with short points and conform to the skull of the chicken, like with the other ladies you have.

I doubt any of her birds are exactly to the standard. But all are super cute! I think Aspen's comb is adorable!

Thanks so much! I never really considered that Aspen might just have a bigger comb and nothing more, I just have always have thought she was a rooster! It’s a big relief because my dad won’t let us keep more than one rooster and we might’ve gotten rid of her by accident!

You are lucky. We are strictly NO roosters. We don't even live in a city OR suburb!

Oh I agree, I love it when birds have a little "something different" about them when they otherwise look alike, it gives them great personality! Plus if you're not showing chickens the standard doesn't really matter much anyway, temperament and productivity matter a lot more.

It’s definitely a hen,combs don’t matyer,if she was a He it would be bigger and already obviously like a rooster and probably mating and crowing right about now.

The reason her comb is big is probably because she is the most dominant,and because she is most ready to lay,likely her sisters aren’t.
