We have some awesome 16 week old chicks. Mostly pullets - one very clear roo (gorgeous Black Australorp and hoping to keep him). But we also have Marshmallow who we think is a Buff Orpington pullet. No egg or crow yet. Tiny spurs that haven’t developed. But she has this odd tuft on her head and has become more aggressive to the other chicks (still most friendly and curious to us). She’s top of the pecking order and regularly challenges our cockerel of the same age.

So what do you think? Really a Buff? Pullet? Note body pics from about a week ago. (15 weeks)

Where did you get your chicks?
She is an adorable mixed breed Pullet!
That’s what I was thinking. We got them from a chicken store that grows out chicks from a mail order hatchery - started with chicks off heat at about 5-6 weeks. That makes so much more sense. Excited to see what she will look like in the end :)

She's an Easter Egger of some type, perhaps an olive egger. She looks like a legbar cross.

One thing is for certain, she is a beauty.

I agree with the others. Just wanted to add that giving them an ornamental kale to eat is a bad idea unless you know for certain it was organically raised. Most ornamental plants are treated with systemic pesticides and are not good for anyone or anything to eat.
