I have accepted that some of my birds like handling and others just don't. My sex link climbs in my lap any time the opportunity presents itself, my white rock actually enjoys being carried around and basically asks my 8 year old to pick her up, my two ameraucanas don't like contact but will freeze solid as soon as you touch them and then they're cooperative, my orp, ee and other sex link run like the wind and can't even be caught. They are all pampered and have been raised the same.

I give my Orps meal worms and they mob me when I go out and set on the steps. Two on my knee, one on my shoulder and the rest on my feet and standing behind me with Henry standing about a foot away from my left ear and then crowing. Even in the Orps I have one or two that don't like being caught, they run but after you catch them they seem to settle down and enjoy the soft petting and talking to. Usually if chickens are not tame before laying they usually do not become more tame after laying but go broody the older they get which means they get grumpy and don't want to messed with.

Mine do the same with string cheese!!! As long as I twirl it around for them of course. And yes some of mine run like the wind but I really don't try to catch them too often. My idea of a tame bird is them not pecking me and running to me when I have treats. In fact they hear the back door open and they run to see what I have whether I have treats or not haha!
