*Buff Orpington Thread!*

Here is my big girl fluffy. She is 8 months old and is sitting on 12 Brahma eggs (all I could find for her this time of year) she's a good broody never leaves her eggs. It's her first time.

She has that "don't come any closer" look. Love it.

I will post some of both later :)
Did you get your Buff from a hatchery, or a breeder who breeds to the SOP ? Most hatchery Buffs are not purebred Buffs. They are much smaller, and lay smaller eggs.
I'm not sure. I would really like to know. I got my coop and 3 young chickens off of craigslist. My mom accidentaly deleted the number of the person we got them from.

We got two Buffs from our feed store in January. I was really concerned about one, because she was a week behind the other in feather development. And when her feathers came in, they were a shade darker. I felt sure that we had a roo on our hands. But after 5 weeks, the combs are both light colored...no reddening at all. Here are a few pictures:

I hope they are all pullets because we can't keep Roosters where we live!
I don't think that either of those are buff orpingtons. Orpingtons have white legs and feet. Someone will correct me if I am wrong though. They are still pretty little girls :)

Those are NOT buff orpingtons. As mentioned, the legs are not the right color and neither are the feathers. Think they are possibly a cross with maybe a hint of buff but most assuredly not all buffs. Think the person who sold them to you at the store didn't have a clue as to what they were.

Look like possibly "red star" types = like Delaware mixed with Rhode Island Reds or Buff Orps mixed with Reds of some kind
