Great pics. Love the one of Bella's Mom.

I have some questions. I've kind got the impression that the larger SOP buffs can get really broody. Mine are not that broody so don't want to get into that scenario. Secondly, what other breed of chicken has a good disposition and not flighty and mixes well with the buffs. Also must be really good egg layers.

The short backed UK Buffs have a lot of Cochin blood. They do go broody often. The longer backed SOP birds do not go broody nearly as often, even if they are crossed with UK birds, and they are very large.

I have a mixed flock of BO and Barred Rocks. Both are very easy going and mix well. I actually think that the BRs are a hardier breed than my BOs. Both breeds tend to lay about the same.

Interesting how different all the BOs are. Two of my 5 went broody last summer, one of them twice. They lay an egg every other day and right now the eggs are beginning to get huge. Two of them are very large and 3 are fairly small, but they're all much bigger than my EEs. None of them are brown, all a light beige leaning toward pink.

All of them survived the surprise subzero temperatures this winter and do very well in the high humidity/heat in the summer, which I was grateful for because they're so fluffy!

Bella is beautiful. I am curious since Big Orp ask how big my Miss Priss was and I weighed her how she stacks up. How much does Bella weigh?
Hi, just remembered that I do know Bella's weight! When I took her to the vets a couple of month ago they told me. She is about 3.5 kg

Can't find the Barred Rock in my area but does anyone know about the Golden Sex Links? From what I've read about them they are supposed to be a very gentle bird and really good layers.
They are just the basic Ginger ones aren't they? If so then yes they are great layers and very friendly!
