Well Hello you beautiful dolls! Was wondering where you were!

This is a pullet right?
Looks like a girl to me!

My best broodies were buff orpingtons. I sold out of all of my chickens and all supplies last year when dh got laid off and I went to work. We're getting things going again and can't find any BOs locally! When our TSC got some in one man was waiting and bought ALL of them!!!

Hi, We are new here on this site. Just getting chickens for the first time! We joined to learn as much as we could. We are putting up our coop soon. We have four buff orpington chicks coming about April 12 or so in the mail! We are so excited. We have made a brooder with a Rubbermaid tote and it's all ready!

We are trying to get the area of the yard by the woodshed ready to set up the coop. The snow finally went away, but it's all mud now and we pick up our coop and run on March 28. No way to set it up there until the ground dries out and we can get in there and work. Guess we'll have to set it aside until we can get the area dug and leveled off...

Buff chicks are coming in mid April and will be anywhere from a month to about 8 weeks old. At least the brooder is all set. We are just hoping we don't do anything wrong---Seems like there is a lot to remember!

Here is the spot we are working on for our coop and run
We built that fence! We'll extend it to enclose the whole coop and run later this spring. Here is Adam and a neighbor boy helping him.
Lol, it's mud season in New Hampshire!

I figured posting here I may get answers to my 2 orp questions. First, can buff orps be two toned like this?

Second question,is this a purebred buff orp? Now the reason I ask.... I hatched a few buff orp/light brahma mixes. I loved them so much,I got 7 more eggs from the breeder. She told me,about a week into incubation, that an orp hen may have started to lay and I could get purebreds. So they hatched out,5 yellow,2 golden. They started to feather out white. This combo is sex linked. After a couple wks the feathers darkened up. So I separated it with my girls. But like my first hatch of orp/brahma mix girls, they all eventually leaked black around the neck, some in wings and their tail. I originally wondered when it hatched if it was pure cause the legs were smooth, but one of the boys have smooth legs.its pea comb went from looking single to pea. This one still looks single. I don't know what orp chicks look like, but mine is now 4 wks old,so do you think it's a pure orp? Possibly pullet? It sure doesn't act like the boys in the bin next to them! Lol! Thanks in advance for reading all this, now heres the pics!!!

Hopefully one of our knowledgeable BO experts will chime in with an answer.
