*Buff Orpington Thread!*

Now I'm feeling guilty that I have no plans to salvage the (50+ year old/falling apart) rabbit hutch in my yard as creatively. Your window looks a lot like the old doors....

Lol. We have a ton of old buildings that have things like the window and doors in it. I just haven't decided what kind of craft project to do with them yet.....something else to think about. lol

New to chickens, just got my first chicks in last week!
Of course, I'd heard so many great things about Buff Orpingtons, they were one of my "must haves"!
In addition to a few Easter Eggers and my lone survivor Barred Rock, I have two Buff girls: Eloise and Ava

I look forward to learning more about them!

And I have barred rock hen that is so old I think she forgot what eggs look like................

But she is a sweetie....comes to the porch everyday and waits until I give her two grapes..the goes on her way

My BO free range on 5 + acres and as soon as I go outside for any reason and they see me, they all come running like they're being chased. They all gather round my feet and commence to talk to me. When I feed the horses I drop some grain on the ground for them and some flakey alfalfa. They love it. When I let them out to free range they all follow me to the front porch and sometimes I've had to stop some of them from coming in the house. Absolutely adore my BO girls. Want more. They are the sweetest, most lovable birds I have ever had. They love to sit up on my knee and on my shoulders and talk to me. Didn't know such chickens existed. Want 5 more Standard bred BO's ASAP. My birds are kind of on the small side although a couple of them do lay jumbo sized eggs. Can't say enough about the BO breed, at least about my girls. They have been laying all winter long but since one of my hens got killed, don't get as many eggs. Need more hens. And thus I sing the bird beautiful, LOL. For those of you who have ever watched The Twilight Zone will probably understand that statement. I think I'm rambling but don't know why.

I've been spending time just in the vicinity of my 2 Buff pullets for just a few days. Today, when I sat on a rock, they both came up to me and were checking me out! They are for sure getting more comfortable!! I'm so happy!!

My flock will run to greet me and then follow me. Sometimes some will get accidently stepped on because even though I am being careful, they still manage to get in front of me and under my feet. Usually they will hang out with me for a little while and then go back to their chicken lives. My alpha pullet will jump on my lap and let me pet her while I talk to her.

I LOVE MY CHICKENS and will NEVER live anywhere without having chickens again!!!!
