*Buff Orpington Thread!*

My 4 Buff O chicks are now 3+ weeks old and are the cutest little things. For some reason they are about half the size of my Buff O/Welsummer crosses and I've noticed that two of them are very light colored, almost white compared to the regular Buff O 'gold' colored chicks. I think I've posted this pic before but if you look closely at the three chicks to the left of momma Aggie, you will see what I am talking about.

The middle chick of the three is almost gold but the chicks on either side of it are paler in comparison. The little girl or guy on the left under mom is the last chick to hatch and actually came from an abandoned egg that I hatched out in the house. It's name is Rocky due to it's rocky start in life. But is this color variation normal in BO chicks? Will they feather out with the regular BO gold or be lighter in color?

I had similar, my BO hen hatched 4 JO (purchased, supposed to be JO) chicks. 2 marked like JO, one golden like BO, one much paler....
I am wondering the same thing.. I suspect my two wont be JO marked.
guessing yours might turn

I don't have a clue about coloring/breeding. You could pm @junebuggena she might know more about the subject.
I think they are just adorable thought. Love how Momma Aggie is looking on so attentively.

Greg88 Might just happen. I was looking at the chick this morning and noticed that her/his wing feathers are coming in slightly darker but are still lighter than its siblings.

Thanks Wyorp Rock,I just may PM them.

What cuties. I wouldn't worry too much about one being little. Two of my four pure BO are petite little girls (I hope) but spunky as heck. Remember. Diamonds and dynamite both come in small packages!

JacksF&G- just my opinion here but I've raised quite a few bo chicks and the 2nd chick pic down makes me think that's a roo. Early redness of the comb area has always meant boys for me.
