Buff Orpingtons gender?

Very nice looking birds. My first assumption would be that they are too young to tell- but after looking closely, Dorothy certainly looks like a young cockerel. The color of his comb is not the reason, though... it's simply the size. I've had hens with very large combs, so it shouldn't always be a definite source of identification, but for the Orpington, Dorothy is a cockerel.
The other two are most likely pullets but on this, time will tell. Best of luck with your beautiful birds.

So I have 2 Buffs, 4 Brahmas, 4 Black Sex Link & 1 old Golden Comet (brown chicken not pictured.) Our old brown Lady Ace is the lone survivor of our first ever batch of 4 pullets. As they got bigger I was able to find out the name of the breed but they have several so we chose "Golden Comet" from the choices. My son was 13 when we started. Now he's 18 & takes almost all responsibility for them. Best thing I ever did. Besides they are hysterical to sit around with friends on a nice summer day, drinking & bbq-ing & watching them run around & mess with each other !! LOL

Oh sorry-I'm not that person & all my birds are hens. LOL

Hey, all~ Just giving an update on Dorothy and Co. I've come to terms with having a probably cockerel, but thought some of you might like to see how he's doing. (And his sister, DT, as well!)
