I have 3 BOs from the feed store who buys them from Ideal hatchery. All three have gone broody twice so far this year. Luck of the draw, I suppose.
Could well be that they do it when you don't need them to because none of their eggs are fertile and I'd have to rush around getting eggs to have them hatch any.
In fact, this last time there was a few days that all three were broody! Good thing I have an off the ground wire cage out there to break them.
