You always give the seller benefit of the doubt and an opportunity to fix the situation. Sometimes if you pm the original poster they may share that name, but not on an open forum. There could be a lot of reasons this could have happened, everyone has a *bad* day sometimes and this could have been an honest mistake. I don't think you are *allowed* to say names in a negative light, even if it's the truth. I would pm a mod and ask what, if any, your options may be. I do believe we need to look out for each other.....

OT-PouletsDeCajun- I saw those pics of your friends showgirls, they are gorgeous.

Im not sure if I can mention the name of the breeder on here, so I did not. I dont want to get in trouble.

We had an experience just like yours, we bought "show quality" Buff Orpingtons from a local breeder, She had pics posted everywhere of the blue ribbons the parent stock won etc etc, when the eggs hatched they were mixed. The responce we got was "You can tell the difference" . "we had other birds in the same pen" "we will send you more eggs". Like we wanted more mixed eggs. All her friends stuck up for her and backed up the "you can tell the difference" thing. For some reason they couldn't understand that we didn't buy mixed eggs we bought Buffs. Anyway, that's my rant for the day. lol
I would give them a chance to make it right and if they don't feel free to list their name so others don't get taken.

Have you heard back from them yet?

Oh, and I think you are allowed to list the name of the breeder if they don't cooperate. Not to discredit the breeder -- but to warn others that it happened, and they were unwilling to fix it. In my opinion, if a hatchery had done this, you would've posted to warn people. This is a breeder, who still makes money by raising birds, and they should be held to the same, if not BETTER standards as a hatchery.

I feel for you. I bought some silkies recently and paid extra for older chicks that the breeder was reasonably sure were female (yeah, I know, silkies are tough to sex). Out of 6 birds I ended up with 5 roosters, 2 with straight combs, all but 2 with weirdly mixed colors.

I wasn't planning to show, though, just wanted incubators/pets/foster moms. At least I got one decent looking partridge silkie hen out of the deal...though it essentially cost me $60 to get her since I am having trouble even giving away the roosters for free at this point. Ugh.

I hope this breeder responds to your email and makes everything right for you. If you paid for show quality, that's what you should have gotten. Hopefully it was all just an honest mistake!

Well, I just got an email back. She said she is terribly sorry, and never saw the twisted beaks and single combs. She said that she will be refunding my money ASAP. So I will let you know when I receive the money back. I'm glad she said that she will do the right thing, so lets see what happens.

Well I am glad for that outcome! I paid good money for some buffs, and they are not good quality, but nothing is deformed. They just still have the black feathering in their tails and I don't think they will lose it as they are 14 weeks now. Other then that they are pretty, just 'dark' buff. I think they will be good pet quality... great skin, and they feathers out nicely. I'm still going to breed them next year... just for fun. I just don't want to upset anyone...so they will be just 'pet' chickies!

I hope the refund is quick and you can get what you really want!

I'm so glad that she got back to you and is refunding! It's kind of weird though that she didn't notice the twisted beaks and combs.. You'd think they would look at that type of thing.
However, I'm glad this all resolved itself - almost. You still don't have those buffs to pair with your beautiful FlufNStuff chicks. Are you going to order from another breeder?

Now Im told that she cant afford a full refund. And that I got what I wanted. Did I ask for her culls, Did I ask for chicks with crooked beaks, single combs, and mixed colors? No way!
