We did this 10 years ago - I hear ya on the stress of the hubby! ha ha! Ours was fully wooded also. We had the back part cleared and discovered we were just 3 acres away from the lake. We spent the next year dredging those 3 acres to connect us to the lake. So ours is now a pasture with lake front! Sure wish I woulda taken a lot of pictures like you are doing! Congrats! Looks wonderful!

I am so excited for you. It is a wonderful feeling to be able to settle down in your own house. Especially after the whole process of building your own home. Congratulations! It is a beautiful house and property. I can't wait to see the green.

You know what that is don't you? It's the elusive Pileated woodpecker. In college I took a ornithology class and we were quite thrilled to have seen one... I guess there is a t-shirt they talked about that says something about being in the "Pileated Woodpecker" club since they can be difficult to track down. My teacher found their home---long and slender hole in a tree--and we would drive by every day and wait and hope to see one... and lo and behold one day we did. It was pure excitement.

Your home looks amazing and I love all the critters your finding...well, most of them... cept for the scorpion and the snake....

me,
gretchen
