Building an "Old Style" henhouse.....move in day!....... (pics)

Steveo, if you go back a ways ....quite a ways....you will see a post/pics where my neighbor came over and helped me move it. It is in it's final destination right where it sits...but, if the gov't wants to tax me on it, I can show them the skids and the fact it can be moved. I doubt any local gov't official cares anyways, I am zoned ag.

The skids are treated (wolmanized and will not rot, however I did put some treated material between the skids and the ground to insure it will remain in perfect shape.

Thanks....

No it isn't a bought design, it all materialized in the grey matter between my ears.....

Been some folks telling me I should make plans of it and sell it. When I joined on this forum I said I hoped to contribute something. Since I knew little (and still know little) about chickens the good folks here helped me stumble along the way......so this is my contribution back to the forum. What's the saying "Paying something forward".

Anyone can glean the info and pics to make one of their own. I know Buster is making something close and a couple others are talking about making one.......so I am paid in full by being able to help someone else.

Not sure on insulating yet....I may be broke by then.

I know what you mean about materials costing a lot of money. Just for a small 4x8 insulated building cost me 700.00. Dh built mine with no design. Now I will owe him eggs the rest of my life.

It looks like a small saltbox like the house. Your building is wonderful and I think I would like to upgrade to your style. It's much bigger and I like the windows. That is a very kind thing you are doing for the people here. Everyone is so nice and very helpful.

Thanks everyone for the positive comments, I am glad you are enjoying this process.

Hi chickensnatcher

If the weather is nice tomorrow I plan on getting the white aluminum soffits and facia done. Then frame in the little chicken door. I hope Miss Jayne doesn't steal it either.....my guard dogs will probably just lick her to death.
