Steve, nice job, that's gonna be a swell looking coop when you are finished. I will be following this thread to see the progress along with everybody else.

Thanks for posting the material list as you build. It will allow others to shop for materials. So much safer than trying to estimate a cost to all corners of the country.

With that being said, right now is a great time to buy lumber if you can afford it. Wood is the cheapest it has been in a long time!

BTW: aren't you building a hen house? Isn't that the name of that style building?

I guess I don't know, henhouse does sound better than chicken coop.

My roofing crew stopped by yesterday to tell me they were done with the current job......asked me what I was building. When I told them what it was, they said it looked like something that needed a professional roofing crew to put the shingles on. Either they think I forgot how to do shingles, or they are brown nosing for more work.

LOL They just know which side of their bread is buttered. Or sumthin like that.

Thank you for the step-by-step on your coop. We are going to build one this spring and can really use the information you just provided since we know almost nothing about building. We are going to build a 16'X20' building so we can have 3 coops in it with different breeds and a work area with storage.
