the breed name is the Friesian gulls

Not important but there are 3 breeds mixed up here.
Friesian (not gul), a dutch breed
Groningen gul, also a dutch breed
East-friesian gul, a precursor breed to the groningen gul but from across the border with Germany

All come in autosomal barred pattern. Friesians have more color options.
Friesland is a northern dutch province to the west of the province Groningen, which is at our eastern border with Germany.

Ron, I weighed my pullets and hens. POL Pullets are weighing in at 5.5 to 6 pounds. The hens are 5.8 to 6.3 pounds.
Columbian cocks for the pens will include these sons

And paired with hens with wider heads...

These two are Blue Columbian..

What do you suggest when it comes cleaning up the backs on females?

I will have some great birds one year and the next is seems like I am fighting the ticking again. Not that bad but seems to be a problem in some that I have seen.

To me the columbian wyandottes look pretty good for a hatchery. All of their combs followed the skull, i didn't see any leaders pointing up. Also they didn't have much black spots or ticking on their backs, they were actually pretty white. All had bright yellow legs too. Looked like a good breeding flock to me, i would order some columbian wyandottes from them just to see how they turn out.

i have cw from cackle ..i am new to the breed and have had a sm flock (4)of production birds for about a yr..
these are about 6 weeks old ..not sure which are roo's or hens ..they were all suppost to be hens but its still a crap shoot i guess..


i was not aware there were diffrent types of columbian wyandottes ..i started reading the beginning of this thread and i have to admit it was very confussing to me ..i no as a beginner it would be but wow ..loli guess i have a lot of reading to do to know as much as some of you guys on here ..


i had a question ..is it common to find a lite tan or lite brown feathers on the breast area.???.i was surprised when i seen them ..i thought right away they shouldnt have any other colors but the black and white ..thanks in advance for any answers ..

I don't raise columbian wyandottes anymore, but i have never had any with a brown feather on their chest.

thanks for replying..itsd a very lite ting of brown or tan ..they say on their site they have been working this breed for 40 pl yrs..i really was bummed when i seen it ..i guess it could have been something that rubbed off on her but couldnt find anything in the coop except poop..lol..i will look again and check all of them this time ..i'll keep you posted of what i find.

i blew up the 7th pic i posted and you can see it ..its real lite tho ..
