That's actually considered bad practice, I've seen it on "common roof installation mistakes" lists. In fact if you do it this way, your wind warranty will be void because of improper installation. There's too little traction between the upside-down strip and the first row, so the first row can be lifted up by the wind. What's recommended to do instead is to use a regular strip right side up with the tabs cut off and the tar line along the roof edge, or buy and use starter strips for the edge....and do you know about the first row of shingles going on 'upside down'?
