Building my first coop/run

We're going to put something on top of hardware cloth on the ground, maybe cinderblocks or gravel.
No need to unless the grass at the perimeter won't grow back. Or you can landscape staple it down and just pull some mulch/dirt over it.

I know the photos are in-progress but make sure apron corners are also covered with HWC.

Roof is on!

Your coop is looking gorgeous!! My husband and I are old people so no building from scratch for us (though he is now keen to build our run but we're waiting for the dead of winter here in NC, we're sick of sweating)

We did pebbles around the edges of our hwc skirt.

I had leftover stones from my fireplace that fitted around that perfectly. *Nothing* can get in this. Its a great feeling that they are so safe at night when all the boogeymen come out haha

girl that shiplap is gonna be GORGEOUS I cannot wait to see it!!

I LOVE it! I'm jealous, your coop is way prettier than mine🤣

Oh don't be throwing that around! Its far from perfect. But I think once it has a coat of paint it will really look nice.

Chickens are of questionable legality in my town but my neighbors have rabbits, so..... I doubt anyone is going to start complaining now. Especially the ones with the rabbits. And everyone else I'm pretty cool with. But I wanted to make it look really nice, just so that wasn't something that could be complained about "oh that junky looking chicken shack in their backyard."
