Building My First Coop

Pics
Just read through all 32 pages of this thread. Really like your coop. You did a great job. I love these types of thread, they are so helpful to other people trying to build their own coops. You've given me a few ideas to improve upon my own coop which is 3 years old now.

Hi Ya @aart Long time since I've been on the boards and happy to see you are still helping out with builds and such. You were instrumental in my coop build for sure :frow

BTW I changed up my avatar. I guess the the new format they changed to a circle shape and my normal barred rock chicken was suddenly headless. This is a picture of my coop pop door. Just in case you didnt recognize my avatar.:hmm

I should probably start looking for an incubator at some point soon... Hoping to rent/borrow one, since this will probably be a one-time kind of endeavor, not worth buying an incubator for it.

LOL! Famous last words...:D I've never known anyone to hatch "just once" its unbelievably addicting. I bought a mini brinsea II last spring, did one hatch. This year I swore no more chickens....well, I have eggs in the bator as we speak and more on the way next month:oops:

Well, I was actually thinking that if I want to add more chickens, I'd just put some eggs under a hen and let her hatch them instead of using an incubator. That would be way more fun!

Well , she finally settled in a nest for about 15 - 20 minutes and left this behind :)

Its not a very large egg , here is another pic next to a brown large egg (store bought) for comparison .

The pullet that layed this egg was suppose to be one of the 4 Red Stars but we always kinda figured she wasn't a Red Star (which is fine with us) , smaller bird , different shape tail , color than the other 3 Red Stars . The egg is an olive color .
Here's a picture of her , she's taking a dust bath right now and doesn't want to pose . (I'll get a better picture later) She is 20 -21 weeks old .
