building paradise for the birds

well..its snowing like crazy but good news I did get some work done...all the walls are standing...not done yet I have one more thing to do to secure one of the inner walls and then its done...and then onward to putting up the wire...yes I cant wait...hope I can get it done tommarow all of it...but I think im asking to much out of myself...but im tired of building coops....oh yeah forgot to mention im adding on to the flock....5 peacocks....one white four year old male, one india blue hen 2 years which is proven breeder and she sits....a hatch from 2014 not sure if its male or female....and two pieds...not know of the gender yet....but I will get pics tommarow....I got them at a very great price...so im so happy that means I will have pea chicks...this season...yea...

anyways here is some pics from today...I spent some time in each pen with the birds today hand feeding them...so they get used to me again its been awhile...also spoke to a very credible source today...I could not believe who I found....I found a guy that hangs out with and got birds from ....peach golden from Lonnie b.....anyone knows who he is...that is louie b's kid...the first guy to ever have the peach golden...greatest part im getting a pair from him in September...yes...then I will split the pair I have now .....hopefully I will have five pairs of both silver and peach....that is my goal...but well see....I also wanna get quail..."tatanka" if someone will give it to me ....I have made my pms to the people...they no who they are....I am also trying to get albino white chuckars....so well see how that goes.....also a big surprise bird...that I wont tell and show until it is here.....so well see im hoping for the best....I believe this year will be great and I will expand heavy...

well thanks for all the help...with the peafowl....today is horrible...its close to zero with huge winds and the well pit froze so im not a happy camper ...have a heater and a blowdryer out there now trying to unthaw all the pipes...the current area is heated and has heat tape around everything...its never froze yet with all the new design its all insulated to...I think I might have to increase the light bulb in there and put it on a thermostat...so it turns on and off by itself...grrr.r....well another day...im just hoping I can get the water going....got about 20 eggs from the chickens today so im happy about that...I plan on wrapping some more wind barrier around the bird coops that don't have it yet...just got done shoveling paths around everything and clearing the tarps from snow...and the tarps are already getting torn to shreds ...the wind takes them when they have nothing on them and throws them around...causing tears where I have the rope thru the openings...so I know the tarps wont last long....well time to start planning out the roof structures and the trusses...I really thought the tarps would have lasted at least a couple of months...well gotta hope for the best...as for it is a new year...and most of the pens have heated water dishes so they have water and I do have reserve water in the house so they wont go without water...well out to freeze I go...

Thanks! I do use Peacock feathers a lot. Almost all of the feathers from the bird can be used but only in select situations. I have included pictures of the individual feathers from the bird that I use.

Hi birdman. Spectacular birds.... I skimmed through, birds ( especially the amarucanas and the rusty colours pheasants ) cats, dogs... Great building project, great thread.
Flyfish 1985 very nice decorative flies in fact amazing, so I assume there decorative, I just skimmed through I don't think flyfishing works on wales

Birdman, living in the Mitten as well I know what you are talking about with the cold! It is like it hit out of no where and the temp dropped like a stone! Keep up the good work. Everything is looking really nice with the enclosures! Good luck. You got this mate!

Hennible, thank you very much for the compliment! I love tying them and yes, most of the ones that I posted are for display only. There are a few that you would be able to fish with no problem and I actually have some of the patterns that I have tied for fishing but almost all of them are just to large to fish with around here. Believe it or not though there are flies out there that are that big! Most of them are used for Musky and pike in freshwater and for Shark and the billfish species like Marlin and Sailfish out in saltwater. The freshwater ones though are made with a lot of hair that is very water absorbent and it ends up feeling like you are casting a wet tube sock! Ha ha. They catch fish though! Again, thank you very much for the compliment. I do appreciate it.

well got the last board cut and now going to screw it in and the next wall of wire is cut and putting that up in a bit...
