Got a bit frustrated today, and blamed it on the heat. I stuck brush limbs in the top of the fence to make it 6ft high, and propped the half-finished gate up. I can't hang the gate until that section of retaining wall is finished, so I might start on that tomorrow.

The gate is a painting canvas that suffered water damage in storage. I pulled the canvas off and attached chicken wire from the scrap pile (used to keep rabbits from a garden years ago). And the branches are from the trees I cut for the fence. I've used jute and floral wire to hold things in place as needed.

Yesterday we got up to 80. Right now it's 36. Low tonight is 27. Our weather is crazy. BUT no white death.

Hot days and cold nights here as well, clear skies tho. We did get some hail the other day for about 5 mins.

so working on number 23 for chicks...its pipping right now...cant wait....will bring the hatch rate to about 82 percent...not bad...pipes froze in the well pit today....even with the water running....weird...but true...grrrr...just trying to be patient but thats getting on the thin side now...

Poor guy didn't make it to the roost and we got 6" or more of snow and freezing rain dumped on us over night.

Poor fella!! He looks like that eagle out in PA that they had a camera on and they found it covered in snow, except for its head.

OMGosh!!! But.......it attests to the insulative properties of feathers...and what no frostbite????
