buliding my first incubator

If you haven't already, add some small bottles of water to the incubator to help even out the temps. Also, if you have a homemade incubator start with the temps suggested for a forced air then adjust to your specific needs. It took me a year to really get a great hatch from my incubator, but using the different temperatures through out the incubator and then finding a happy medium I am getting a 90% or better hatch rate. Our last hatch we had two non hatchers out of 34 and 4 non fertile for a grand total of 28 chicks. The one before that we had 22 for 27 hatch with 4 non-hatchers. My motto: Keep Tinkering 'till its Right!

Well a thermostat isn't really going to solve the problem if the temp is uneven in different areas of the bator. I need to figure out how to get the temp leveled out in all areas first then I can worry about regulating the overall temperature. I'll try that water bottle idea griffin. I'm not going to attempt a hatch for a few more months anyway so I have plenty of time to get it right.

i have one more question when setting the thermostat i know their will be a +/- 5 degrees so do i need to get the average of the high and low to be 99.5 or just the high at 99.5, cause i got to thinking about it mine right now runs to 108 to 91 which averages out at 99.5 is that good or not

ive been thinking of building a incubater out of a small oven but my 2nd incu i built out of a micro fridge and is is doing great. i will post pics in a few days.
