I am so sorry for you to have gone thro that! They are awesome, yet there can be issues with that. Which happened to me this past Monday. First, background:
My girl Corey, who was only 2 had some behavior issues with other dogs. Mainly my 5 year old girl Ky. Corey, has picked fights with Ky leading to her bloody. Corey also had a very high prey drive (killed a multitude of my chickens). Also, attacked the neighbor's cat (survived!) and my other neighbor's dog (he is okay and got more roughed up than anything). Over the last year and even more the last few months showed food aggression and getting snippy with Costello. Despite training and discipline, she steadily gotten worse.
Fast forward to Monday. Corey and Ky got into a bad fight. Resulting in Ky getting the worse of the damage and me getting bit in the process of breaking them up. With a very very heavy heart, my husband and I decided to put Corey down.
I have never had to put an animal down before outside of terminal health reasons. The heartache alone has made me extremely depressed.
